On Movement

Cohort 8 infants are discovering new ways of using their bodies everyday. It's a lot of work! And a lot of fun!
Each child self directs their progression of movements, building on previous work in order to reach, see, explore, and feel.
I am reminded of a passage from Authentic Relationships in Group Care for Infants and Toddlers:
This progression of movement may come naturally but it's also a lot of work AND a lot of play!
When was the last time you slowed down and really thought about the muscles it takes to roll over? To rotate your body in a circle while on your belly? To put something in your mouth while on your belly? How many different ways can you get from your belly to your back?
