Let Me Work Hard!

S really wants that toy that is just barely out of his reach. He kicks and kicks his feet, reaching his arm towards it.

Soon he flies his arms out to the side and kicks strongly again.

He looks over at me. I smile softly, nod with my eyebrows raised, and reflect, "You are working so hard! You really want that toy."

S returns to his efforts, with stronger than ever kicks and stretched out fingers...

And it works! He looks at me again, and I smile and reflect again, "You reached and kicked and reached and kicked, and you grabbed it!"

He rests his head on the floor, the toy nuzzled under him.

What a feeling--to work and work and work... and finally reach it!
