A New Preschooler and the Joy of Paint

Last week we welcomed another new preschooler and his family to the Tumbleweed community. During his first two days at the preschool house, TB began settling into the flow of the day and enjoyed spending time outside, exploring the back yard. One of the favorite activities that we have been doing outside this week is painting with tempera paint on a large canvas on the concoction table.

One morning last week, TB ran quickly to the table, noticing the fresh paint that was put into the muffin tins. Leaves were placed on the table as inspiration and quickly became part of the paint exploration. TB picked up a paintbrush, dipped it in the paint, and placed the tip of the brush against a maple leaf, focusing on it as he moved the brush back and forth and up and down.

Dusty and TB painted a leaf together. In this moment, a relationship was being established and trust was growing. It was a magical moment.

There were many amazing moments with TB, including building with the gears and digging for dinosaurs in the sandbox, however, his exploration of the paint and leaves was captivating. He was focused, painting intently and intensely, lightly painting each leaf until they were completely covered in paint.

We welcome TB and his family to Tumbleweeds and look forward to sharing many more moments with TB and his family throughout his journey at TPH!
